American Walnut stock, 22" round bbl w/1:20 rifling.  Both have carbon fiber CVLife bipods.

The scoped rifle has an Arken EL4-4-16x44 scope.

The iron sighted rifle has a Smith receiver ladder rear peep sight and a Lyman 17AUG peep front sight (soon to be replaced with a tall Lee Shaver spirit globe peep sight as the Lyman is too short a height for 25 and 50 yards).

I build both smokeless and black powder paper patched bore rider cartridges for both rifles.  The smokeless load is the same used in the H012GCC lever rifle.  The BP PPB load uses Starline brass, Federal LPP, 3.1 grains of Swiss 3F black powder (fills the case to the case rim), a single .062" Circle Fly veggie wad (both the powder and wad are compressed .100" below the case rim).  The slick (a bullet with no lube grooves) is cast from an Accurate Molds 42-296 mold with 1:20 tin:lead alloy, drops @ 299 grains and .417" diameter, wrapped in Fidelity 10# paper that yields a final diameter of .4235" (the bore mics @ .424" diameter).

As of this date I've just begun load testing at 50, 100, and 187 yards.

Love both the rifle and caliber.  Color case hardened receiver, American Walnut stock, 20" octagonal bbl w/1:20 rifling, Blackhound 1-6x24 LPVO glass, magazine holds 10 rounds of my own cartridge build - Starline brass, Federal LPP, 6.2 grains TiteGroup under a 1:20 tin:lead cast NOE 432-216 bullet that drops @ 218 grains and is pan lubed with SPG.

Henry Rendezvous / Welcome to the Henry Firearms ...

Howdy,

As forum members arrive, both seasoned and new Henry firearm owners, as well as folks interested in learning more about the Henry firearm offerings, the hope is that good dialogue will result in the learning and sharing of good information and data.

I've been a firearms owner/shooter since the 1950s in pretty much all disciplines and guns, from .22 rimfire to .45-70 centerfire, handguns to long guns, muzzleloaders and shotguns as well.  I build my own centerfire cartridges and shotshells, cast bullets and slicks, using both smokeless and black powder.  I make and use cast lubed bullets, PC (polymer coated) bullets, paper patched slicks, as well running balls for muzzleloader paper cartridges and patched balls.

Four years ago I bought my first Henry rifle, a single shot break open in .45-70 chambering.  A truly fine rifle that got me started on a Henry buying spree of other Henry single shot rifles and shotguns, and then a gaggle of Henry lever guns.

My current favorite cartridge is the .44 Remington Magnum that I load for both smokeless and black powders in cartridges with lubed, PC'd, and paper patched bullets.

My favorite .44 Magnum Henry guns are a pair of H015 single shots and a H012GCC lever action.

Happy to share about these guns and loading cartridges for them.

Welcome aboard and cheers!

RobD.
